Day 4,025
Growth:
Regardless of one’s spiritual beliefs, the concepts shared in the Prayer of St Francis all lead us to love others, to live our lives as better people. Today I felt moved by them, reminded of so much I have to work on.
Prayer of St Francis
Make me an instrument of your peace: where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy.
Grant that I may not so much seek: to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life
Appreciation:
It was about three years ago I wrote a blog about how fun it was to observe the joy and passion Dominic found in the sport of rugby. His freshman year students activities fair led him to a sport he’d never before played or paid much attention to. The look on his face, the smiles as he talked about it, it was clear to see he was loving it.
Catching back up to today…. Gavin found himself in a very similar position, the only difference being he’d had a little experience with rugby through Dominic. This weekend he had his first matches and had a blast! So much fun as s parent seeing your kids doing something they enjoy!
Presence:
Getting an early-ish morning hike in with Becky and the dogs (we’ve still got our bonus dog through tomorrow morning) was exactly the right way to start the day! Fresh air, activity, and opportunity to get my body moving was a great kick off to Sunday. With all the busyness of yesterday, this was the right pace to start the Sunday chill.
Thanks!!!
