Day 3,848
Growth:
It’s totally okay to take some down time, to intentionally be unproductive, to find calm, to recharge. Don’t do it all the time, but sometimes that release is exactly what our soul needs to breathe.
Appreciation:
We had a lot of fun hanging out with family while watching our niece’s dance competition in the Dells today. The competition was fun, always invigorating to see someone doing something they truly enjoy doing. Our niece was having the time of her life on stage and it was so easy to see that she is very passionate for dance. Spending time with my brother and his family in between and over lunch was also a blast, so many laughs, deep conversations, and everything in between. Throw in a nice little hike for Becky and I after lunch and it was a pretty epic day together!
Presence:
While there was so much fun throughout the day doing a wide variety of things the moments of presence that really stick out were moments that were quite the stark contrast to the rest of my week. On our ride to the Dells, Becky and I talked a lot for the first half or so, but then she focused on addressing envelopes for Gavin’s graduation invites while I drove. On the way back we went right back to the same rhythm, lots of quiet time. Rather than fire up music, a podcast, or an audiobook, I just sat back and drove while enjoying the quiet. My brain was able to release and relax, to chill and calm. Such a wonderful counterbalance to the past couple of weeks!
Thanks!!!
